Get books, NYT best sellers, newspapers and magazines on Kindle

The Kindle Fire will usher in another new era for the Kindle lovers. With tablet capabilities, the amount of directions to explore will be endless. One great existing benfit is the Kindle Store Amazon has developed to hold thousands of titles. What is more is their new service, The Kindle Lending Library, which allows you to "check out" titles for free.

Do you know what you can do with your Kindle?

The introduction of the electronic book readers a few years ago heralded another way for us to partake of our reading passion. The ability to get your reading material delivered to your unit at a moment’s notice was a great benefit that the owners of ebook readers like the Kindle enjoyed and bragged about to their friends. The novelty of such a machine caught quite a lot of interest even as people wondered about the long term prospects of the machine.

You know there had to be questions about the Kindle’s potential market. Questions such as this: Could the Kindle carve out a niche in the traditionally all paper and print world, one large enough to justify the cost of the Amazon technological budget? Would enough people forego the feel and smell of the well known books of their entire life to take a chance on this new technology? Would the number of titles be large enough to meet the demand? Would Amazon be able to grow the market past a books only model?

In this hub I will discuss the various options available for the Kindle user. I cannot help but think about those Tonight Show or late Show with David Letterman sketches where they go out and ask questions of the people on the street. I wonder just how many people know just what is available in the Kindle Store.

Books are the biggest offering for now

Of course books are the anchor product in the Kindle library. With millions of titles already in print and thousands more added each day, the book industry is poised to remain strong for decades to come. Amazon boasts a line of 630,000 books for the Kindle right now, but that number is sure to increase as the sales numbers of the Kindle elctronci reader continue to increase.

The question is how much of the market will be fractured into a digital book form. Digital book readers sales are climbing all the time, meaning that the market for digital books will continue to grow. Amazon's position as one of the Internet's most well known retailers ensures it will have the best chance to capitalize on this technological service.

You can find any type of eBooks online. There are New York Times best sellers within the ereader line up as well books on basically any subject. Cooking, gardening, computers, automobiles, fashion, romance novels and really anything you might seek at your local bookseller can be enjoyed on your Kindle eBook reader.

Newspapers are now being offered through the electronic book reader

If we go back to the point about the general public not knowing the range of products now available to make the most of your portable reader you can now add newspapers to the list. When you go to the Amazon Web site and look at the tabs across the top you will see one labeled newspapers. I am sure the curious among us might find this intriguing, so we will select the tab to find out what it means.

You will be pleasantly surprised to see many familiar newspapers among the title available for download to your digital reader. In fact most of the newspapers listed will make an automatic download to your device each time the paper is published, providing a great convenience to you.

Among the titles in the Kindle library for download are The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Times and other newspapers familiar to the citizens of the United States. The majority of these titles offer you a 14-day trial to see if this is something you are interested in doing.Have you been searching for a financial times newspaper subscription, if so Kindle offers that among its titles.

Do not feel left out if you live outside the United States, because many papers from countries around the world are available for this same service. The list of countries on the Amazon site include: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Columbia, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Spain, the United Kingdom and more.

Magazines are available in the Kindle library too!

While the list of magazines available in the Kindle library is much smaller than the newspapers at this point, that is like a function of how new this option is and how little publicized the feature is. Just as you download books for convenience and space saving you can download your favorite magazine in the same way.

Think about the environmental service you will perform by downloading your magazine to your digital book readers. At my local landfill there is this huge bin that is intended for the recycling of magazines. I am proud of my county and their waste management philosophies, but unfortunately it is only as good as the publicity that it is an option. If people will not take the time and effort to recycle it is actually of no benefit.

By having your magazine sent to your eBook reader you are ensuring there is no recycling to be done, therefore immediately making your environmental impact on the world. You will have less clutter in your mailbox, on your kitchen counter, or wherever your magazines normally collect.

You can find The Reader’s Digest, the New Yorker, Time, Newsweek, Forbes, Fortune, U.S. News and World report and other popular magazines within the list of titles available to add to your digital book reader for your enjoyment. Again the 14-day trial and automatic download apply to this service from Amazon.

Blogs and News Feeds to download

Blogs have exploded in the past couple of years as more people find an easy path to getting their thoughts and opinions to the world. The kindle library offers some of the more well known blogs in a form your eBook reader can recognize, thus providing you with even more potential reading material. EBook fans have all kinds of unique and interesting blogs to choose from to keep their knowledge base growing

News Feeds are simply snippets of news that the Kindle reader might be interested in. Perhaps you will not get all the information you seek from this product, but it might highlight a story you want to do more research on with your personal computer.

Kindle for PC

Can I try out the service before I buy the Kindle DX?  Yes you can. There is an app for that! Kindle has made a PC friendly version available so that you can do what the Kndle device would do if you choose not to invest the modest amount of capital they are charging for the Knidle. By using this PC download you can get all the great offerings for the Kindle for your PC.

More options to come

You know as the Kindle brand continues to carve out its place in the world of digital book readers the Amazon gurus will shake even more potential services out of their technology trees. We can anxiously anticipate any number of new possibilities to keep our digital reader full for decades to come. The fun part is imagining what we might see next.

I've been curious about the Kindle...I have a question...

I had the idea Kindle only works on Amazon, for instance does Barnes and Noble have another version of an E-reader or can their files be downloaded to Kindle as well?

Would be nice if there was a universal reader for all types of files!

Timely Hub...think it is the way of the future provided it is multi-functional so we don't have piles of Kindle- like apparatus piling up for each retailer and publisher...lol

Dobson 22 months ago

Scribenet - You know I am not reallu sure about cross compatibility. It would make a lot of sense to be able to do that, but i think about the Mac and IBM situation and it makes me wonder as well.

Thanks for reading and bringing up another potential hub subject.

Scribenet 21 months ago

Dobson - Looking forward to the potential hub and the possibility that one Kindle would be all that is needed! Let's hope they don't go the Mac and IBM route!

Dobson 21 months ago

sribenet - I will poke around and see what i can learn!

Dobson 21 months ago

scribenet - I did some quick research and it looks like Amazon has locked things down so it can protect its space. You can get documents converted to Kindle specific, but there is not cross compatibility as far as I can tell at this point!

Hello, hello, 21 months ago

Very, very informative and thank you.

Scribenet 21 months ago

Too bad, but I suppose someone will work around it or else there will be a competitor coming up with something more universal. Thanks for the info!

skymarketer 15 months ago

Great Hub, well written. Certainly shows off what the Kindle is capable of!

Dobson 15 months ago

skymarketer - My pleasure to collect the possibilities in a way that makes people more knowledgeable about the potential of the Kindle. Thanks for reading and ocmmenting!
