Internet banking - the banking transactions you can do online

By Dobson

I love the internet because it gives me the ability to do so many things that not so long ago required a physical trip to complete. One of the most convenient tasks is completing banking transactions online. Online banking is a rapidly growing phenomenon that many people are finding to be a great help. Some tasks still require your physical appearance due to safety requirements, but the list of things you can do is quite long.

Check my balance

Obviously you cannot get money through your computer, so don't think this is something that will replace traditional banking. You cannot deposit a check either, but there is still a myraid of things you can do.

One of the things I find most convenient is being able to check my account balance any time I like. I can simply type in my name and password and my account comes up to tell me how much money i have at my disposal. This will only be possible after you sign up for online banking with a bank in which you have established an account.

Transfer funds

I have a bank checking account and a bank savings account that are collected within my online banking services. With these two accounts connected in this way I can transfer funds between the accounts at any time with no intervention from any banking employee. You simply navigate to your account, select the transfer button and it will take you to an application that leads you through the process.

You need to be sure to select the proper account if you have multiple types of account on the internt bamking site. Someone says the computer is only as smart as the operator. This is very true, the computer will lonly do what you tell it. It is an inanimate object with no feelings or concern for your well being, If you make a mistake it does not care. It is waiting for you to come and do what you may right or wrong.

It is a good practice to either write down the transaction number when you do any transfer on your account or you can take a screenshot using a screenshot tool you download to your computer. I use this for bamking transactions and shopping ones as well. That way you have proff of what you have done.

Pay my bills

Paying your bills online is a great convenience that online banking presents to you. Who has time to run to the post office to buy a book of stamps. With their limited hours and ever increasing prices, we needed a better way to take care of our bills, Here come the banks to the rescue. Internet banking allows you to set up an account and add the pertinent account numbers and addresses of your respective billers so that you can easily send whatever amount you owe.

What makes this even better is that some of these accounts charge the same amount each month and you can opt to pay that amount on a regular interval, reducing the chance you might forget to pay the bill when it is due.

Also, you can decide to have your bills sent online to reduce the amount of mail in your mailbox. Not only is this a way to "green up" you bill paying process, it can make the likelihood of lost bills and consternation with your billers very unlikely to happen.

Reconcile your check book and account balance

Sure, balancing your checkbook is about as much fun as peeling forty year old paint off the front porch on a January day in the Northeast, but it is necessary sometimes to prevent an overdraft fee from wrecking your account. With online banking you can do this easily as you can scroll through a predetermined amopunt of time which can exceed the limited one month snapshot you get on the paper staement sent by your bank each month.

Pay your credit card bill

Some banks will allow you to pay your credit cards through their online banking pportal. For online banks the more you can do the better their chances of scarfing you away from the brick and mortar locations. It is another one of the ways internet banking has chipped away at the regular banking process.

It's the way to go Dobson! I am a procrastinator, and this makes sure it gets paid on time. Before I moved here, I had a bank like the one you mentioned that would send out the money for the bills. Here, I can only have my monthly payments autodebited, which in itself is a big help.
