Best Sellers on Amazon

Are you looking for something new for your Amazon Kindle? Something that is on the New York Times Best Seller List? Then you have come to the right place. Just because books have been published in hard copies for years does not mean we cannot enjoy them on the electronic book readers of today. Amazon has all the latest New York Times best Sellers in e-book reader versions to satisfy our desires.

Amazon has given us another option in our pursuit of enjoying out literary passion with a program called the Amazon Lending library. With something alled an Amazon Prime membership ($79 annual fee after free 30 day trial) you have the chance to borrow one book each month which will be automatically delivered to your Kindle if you have a wirlesenabled device. (See the Kindle models offered in the Amazon capsule for more details).

Who wouldn't love to sit in their beach chair under an umbrella with a tall cold drink and read the fine offerings that top the best seller list? With these new and amazing e-readers, your bounds are limitless as far as where you can enjoy your reading passion.

(NOTE: Due to something quirky with Amazon the full price of hardback editions is listed for all but Private, which has the lower Kindle edition price.)

New York City is still the center of the publishing world, with innumerable publishing houses, authors, literary agents and oodles of critics going about the business of bringing us compositions of prose. The critical mass of all these people with one singular goal ensures this will be the hub of literary composition for decades to come. Even with the advent of eleectronic books, the power of the paper publishing industry is so powerful that they have little reason for concern in losing their spot of prominence.

As such,York enjoys the honor of listing the titles that are the most in demand by those of us who enjoy losing ourselves in a book. You can find dozens of collections of the top selling books as this broad industry has so many competing "so-called authorities who want to convinve you their opinion matters the most. In truth however, there is only one gold standard that immediately commands attention: The New York Times Best Seller List.

With a daily circulation figure that averages 1.2 million (1.6 million for the Sunday edition) the New York Times has a huge audience that is conditioned to expect an honest review of the books streaming out of the publishing houses in the Big Apple. The newspaper tracks the sales figures for these books to use in creating their much heralded Best Seller List.

Take a look the next time you are in any store that peddles books. What is the name printed on the front as a measure of the success of the book? Is it the Poughkeepsie Press? Maybe the Hartford Journal Bestseller? No! It is something on the order of "A New York Times Best Seller".There is such a deluge of books it is impossible to root through the torrent to select the book that will fulfill our desires for decent prose. The New York Times Best Seller list does this as it has since first published on April 9, 1942.

Thanks! When I first started to read this, there was a gap between the books and the descriptions and I was thinking, "I wish there were descriptions" and I got my wish!! :-) I just needed to scroll a bit more! Thank you for writing this. :-) Jess

I think those books were hardcopy bestsellers too. They all seem interesting. If only I had time to read more... or if only I had a Kindle(Sigh). Thanks for a very useful Hub.

Jess - This hub was a quick one and I will probably tweak it a bit for better flow. I hope the information met your needs. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Kimberly - You are correct, these are on the best seller list for hard copy books, but the Kindle prices are 1/3 the price of a hard copy book. We have no bookshelves in our house, so the Kindle offerings are just right to save space.

bayoulady - I went back to address the situation of the prices, which are the full price of hard copy versions. I am not sure why the Amazon capsule lists those when I copied the Kindle prices over. I have put the Kindle price at the beginning of each book summary.

I love my kindle! This is a great hub, filled with some good suggestions for books to read. That digital platform portal sounds interesting, and it's given me an idea! Why don't we all upload our books to Amazon and then advertise them here on hubpages?

As don't buy books very often or on a regular basis I see no point for myself to get a kindle. But the idea of a kindle or other book reader is nice. Certainly beats having to carry heavy books around when traveling or going to work.
