Wireless computer peripherals are no longer a dream

All of us who deal with computers have struggled over the years as we try to navigate a tangle of wires with all the various peripheral devices we choose to use with our devices. The keyboard, mouse, printer, wired storage devices, scanners, cameras and other things we want to use have up until recent times always needed a hard wire connection.

All computer users can rejoice as the list of devices still needing wired connections grows ever shorter. Perhaps the one device computer users will appreciate being wireless the most is the one we use only second most to the keyboard, the little point and click friend we know as our computer mouse.

Ease of use with wireless or optical mouse

I have had my wireless mouse for almost two years and I cannot fathom returning to the wired world. The convenience and ease of use is so fantastic with this wireless mouse. You can do anything with optical mouse you might want to do and certainly everything you did with the original wired one.

The great thing is you don’t have to fool around with the long and bulky wire that might require more of your precious desk top space. The wireless mouse is almost unnoticeable without its super long “tail” stretching away from the unit to the back of your personal computer.

My Logitech mouse uses a USB connection

When I got the optical mouse I use, it came with a small USB controller that plugs into the USB port on the side of my laptop. As long as this USB controller is in the port my mouse will do anything I desire. The communication occurs in such a way that there is on lag between my moving the mouse and the reaction of the cursor on the screen.

There are also Logitech units that have a cord that connects to a unit that sits on your desk that will communicate with your wireless mouse. This is the one I got for my home computer and it works just as well as the one with my laptop.

The mouse requires a single AA battery to work

All that is required to power your wireless mouse is a single AA battery. The battery is inserted in the top of the mouse after sliding open a small access door. On the top of the mouse is a small light that will be one of three colors: dark, red or green. When it is dark everything is fine and you can go about your business. When you replace the battery the light will show green, telling you the battery is working as expected. If your light is reed you need to swap batteries to make your mouse work.

When the battery fails you need to re-establish communication

After replacing the battery your mouse will not properly communicate with your computer until you re-sync the signals. This is done easily enough by depressing a small button on the underside of the optical mouse for a few seconds. When you do this the signals will re-sync and you will be back in business.

You can find a cheap wireless mouse online or at any electronics store

For the money you have to spend the freedom of an optical mouse is well worth your time. A Cheap USB mouse is something I think everyone will want to add to their back to school or Christmas shopping list. The price for these great additions in the computer peripherals ranks range from $20 to $75 which is not too much to pay for such convenience.

You don’t have to buy a different wireless mouse for your laptop

Any wireless optical mouse will work with any type of computer. Do not allow yourself to be fooled by wording that leads you to believe there is a difference that means you must buy an optical mouse specifically to work with your laptop computer. The Logitech wireless mice I own work with my tower system as well as my laptop. That’s right, no need for the wireless mouse for laptop only.

A wireless mouse will become indispensable quickly

It is a good thing I have retail stores very close to my office, because when my battery dies in my mouse I am immediately inconvenienced. I know, spoiled is probably a better term, but you will see very quickly how nice this technological advance is to have in your arsenal of technology toys!
